Kim Dakin M.D., F.A.C.S.

In 1997, Dr. Kim Lavergne Dakin began practicing otolaryngology in Opelousas and Lafayette, Louisiana. She received her Medical Degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans and completed her Otolaryngology Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Sonny Montgomery Veterans Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. Dakin is married to Andy Dakin, JD, MBA and they were blessed to raise their three children in Acadiana. Dr. Dakin enjoys teaching the next generation of medical students and residents. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. Dr. Dakin is a distinguished member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology -Head and Neck Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Kim Dakin Biography

Dr. Dakin is a highly respected fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. Her professional affiliations include memberships in the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, as well as past memberships in the American Rhinologic Society, the Lafayette and St Landry Parish Medical Societies. She has served on the Opelousas General Health System’s Surgery, Cancer, Credentials, and Medical Executive Committees. She is currently the Chief of the Medical Staff and supervisor of the Newborn Hearing Program. She has served on the Board of Directors for The Junior League of Lafayette, the Lafayette Community Free Health Clinic, and  St. Ignatius School.

Dr. Dakin received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Then she earned her Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University in New Orleans. This was  followed by Otolaryngology residency at the University of Mississippi, where she also served as Chief Resident. She is board-certified in Otolaryngology.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Dakin is a preceptor for medical students at The Edward Via School of Medicine and Assistant Clinical Professor for residents in the LSU Otolaryngology program.

Since 1997, she has been practicing in Opelousas and Lafayette and is proud of the opportunity to provide comprehensive otolaryngic care to generations of families in Acadiana. She appreciates the friendly community that offers the ability to combine advanced medical knowledge with compassionate care to achieve outstanding outcomes for patients. Together with her husband, Andy, she raised her three children in Acadiana. The Dakins are involved with volunteering and community service.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Dakin enjoys reading and traveling which she finds enriches her approach to both personal and professional life.

Dr. Dakin holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and a Doctor of Medicine from LSU Medical School, New Orleans. She completed her Otolaryngology Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
