Hearing aids are sophisticated devices designed to improve hearing in individuals with hearing loss. They can dramatically enhance the quality of life by allowing individuals to communicate more effectively, enjoy their surroundings, and engage more fully in daily activities. At Louisiana ENT, we understand the significant impact that improved hearing can have on our patients’ lives, and we are dedicated to providing advanced, personalized hearing aid solutions.
Types of hearing aids
There are several types of hearing aids, each designed to cater to different hearing needs and lifestyles:
- Behind-The-Ear (BTE): BTE hearing aids rest behind the ear, with a tube that directs sound into an ear mold in the ear canal. Suitable for most types of hearing loss and easy to handle.
- In-The-Ear (ITE): ITE hearing aids fit completely within the outer ear and are custom-made to fit the wearer’s ear shape. Ideal for mild to moderate hearing loss.
- In-The-Canal (ITC): Smaller than ITE models, these fit partly in the ear canal and are less visible.
- Completely-In-Canal (CIC): CIC hearing aids are nearly hidden in the ear canal and are designed for mild to moderate hearing loss.
- Receiver-In-Canal (RIC): Similar to BTE aids but with a smaller behind-the-ear component and a receiver placed in the canal.
